We had a wonderful year connecting with women in our community through our monthly gatherings. As 2023 is coming to a close, we wanted to take some time to reflect on the inspirational speakers and moments we enjoyed over the past year.
What Is Women In The Workplace?
Women in the Workplace is a gathering of working women to provide opportunities to unite in community and grow in their leadership while also finding balance in their lives.
At the core of each discussion is the importance of living out our faith at work to live life on mission while transforming our community.
Each hour-long gathering includes lunch, inspirational speakers, and table discussion groups.
Women In The Workplace gatherings will return in January of 2024, so be sure you keep an eye on our social media channels and sign up for our email communications so you don’t miss out!
February: Aimee Lunsford
Aimee worked in education for 25 years and celebrated her 10th year as the building principal of Lincoln Elementary School. She shared her insight into navigating seasons of parenting, new leadership, work opportunities, and unexpected changes the world throws at us.
March: Carrie Bianchini, Maria Demopoulos, and Kathy Haddad
This month we hosted a three-woman panel on Leading Spirituality Through Loving People At Your Workplace. Laura Robertson hosted the discussion as we learned how to view our professional spaces as personal mission fields. All three panelists live and work in Kosciusko County and have a heart for serving our community.
April: Suzie Light
We heard from Suzie Light this month about how to be purposely engaged in our community while wearing multiple “hats” as businesswomen, mothers, wives, and more.
As the retired CEO of the Kosciusko County Community Foundation, Suzie has a unique perspective on balancing community leadership with her personal life and other responsibilities.
May: Colleen “Cookie” Wilson
Cookie shared her unique wisdom on the topic of mentoring in all seasons of life and the things she’s learned about mentoring over the years.
Before her retirement, Cookie worked for twenty years in the social services field and is an active part of our Kosciusko County community alongside her husband Denny.
June: Stephanie Overbey
Stephanie shared stories of how “ordinary” women in our community have made an extraordinary and lasting impact by sharing their time, talent, and treasure for the benefit of others.
Her perspective comes from regularly volunteering with the Indiana Philanthropy Alliance where she chairs their Public Policy Committee, OrthoWorx, the Orthopedics Capital Foundation, and the Warsaw Rotary Club. She also serves on the leadership team for LaunchPad.
September: Women In The Workplace Leadership
After the summer break, we dove into the new theme of Empower Her with inspirational personal stories from the women who lead Women In The Workplace. We focused on sharing proven life skills and building connections by empowering those around us in the community.
October: Barbara Ridley
Barb shared her testimony this month, giving examples of thankfulness and how we can cultivate an attitude of thankfulness no matter our circumstances.
She was recognized this year as the 2023 Kosciusko Chamber of Commerce Woman Of The Year due to her contributions to our community.
November: Teresa Bakehorn
Teresa is the owner of Our House Real Estate in Warsaw and is dedicated to giving back to her community and clients using her skills as a dedicated real estate agent with more than 30 years of experience. This month she spoke on how to be empowered in your workplace and how to give strength to others in your life.
